At long last, the first actual screenshot for PS3’s Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4: Summer Memories. In spite of a very familiar venue, it feels tremendously rewarding to spot a few high-resolution textures as a part of irem’ new graphics engine, something which I still hadn’t seen this generation. This bewilderment comes not so much from the affinity to HD graphics: this apparently simple sight, in itself, implies that the doors to current technology are finally open, even to the small and humble Japanese studios who may now resume their path of innovation notwithstanding of the initial barriers posed by the production costs of a PS3 title.
Apart from the previously announced PlayStation Move compatibility, Summer Memories will also be played in 3D (where available). In fact, irem seems to be using all the available resources to promote this their new project. For the latest edition of Tokyo Game Show, which is soon to follow, the studio will be present with a few interesting events, from the distribution of a small magazine BuRurun containing initial impressions on their 2010 game lineup; various goods will also be for sale on the stand ( such as this neat little ZZT4 t-shirt ); to the live appearance of singer Mai Iida, performing the game’s main theme. It is also highly likely (beyond wishful thinking) that a trailer might emerge.
