Videre est Credere: some months after the release of Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3 for the PSP, irem is finally tackling the greater challenge, the development of a full PS3 title with all the investment and hard work that goes with it. Once a great Japanese software-house, irem’s games have achieved some glorification in Japan if they’re largely unknown outside that country. During the heyday of the PS2, when production costs were acceptable and the number of owners was that of a smashing majority of players worldwide, companies like 505 Games or AgeTec risked the release of the first two episodes of this series by Kujou Kazuma and Maki D. However, no company has risked translating the handheld episode so far, which leaves the followers of this fantastic series in grave doubt.

As was mentioned before, there is very little chance that this title will ever reach the North-American or Euroepan markets. While irem is clearly investing greatly in this project, it’s a guess whether they’ll market this game to a Japanese audience exclusively; or if they intend to expand it to international players in order to reach the profit quota they’ve projected. Marketing questions aside, Summer Memories - as this new episode is known - is looking very much like its predecessors albeit the visible increase in technical quality. While the theme and gameplay are bound to suffer some significant changes, this small teaser released today proves that the original spirit associated to this unique series was entirely preserved. An HD version of the teaser video is available here.
